Paraffinum Liquidum

Paraffinum Liquidum is used for more than 100 years in cosmetic products, it has advantages. Chemically speaking, cosmetic grade mineral oil is a complex mixture of highly refined saturated hydrocarbons with C15-50 chain length. It is not merely a "by-product" but rather a specifically isolated part of petroleum that is very pure and inert.

Emulsifying Wax

Emulsifying wax is considered to be one of the main ingredients in making personal care products such as lotions and creams. This is extracted from fatty acids and ester isolation from plant oils. At room temperature, emulsifying wax is solid and may be marketed as small pellets or in small tablets. It is basically odorless but it does have a slight wax smell.

The uses of emulsifying wax were unheard of during ancient times. Skin care products which were equivalent to lotions and creams were made from the extracts of fruits and herbs which were then used to treat minor skin conditions such as dry skin, irritations, scratches, boils, etc.

Triethanolamine Slearate

Triethanolamine can most often be found in cosmetics such as eye shadow, mascara, eyeliner, fragrance, foundation and concealer. Sometimes, it is also added to hair care products such as hair dyes, wave sets. Triethanolamine is also common in moisturizers, shaving creams and gels, as well as sunscreen formulas. Its main use is to balance the overall pH of a product, but it also works as an emulsifier that helps products retain a more homogenous appearance and to spread creams more evenly over the skin. This is especially important for cosmetic products so that they do not lump or cake on the skin.
